After the establishment of Junagadh Gurukul, it was the need of the hour and the request of the parents of the students who were very happy by experiencing the samskar of their children, brought up in the Rajkot Gurukul and Junagadh Gurukul during their school education. They wished that their children should continue the same during their college education too. This was the impetus to create a Gurukul at Ahmedabad with hostel facility for the students to pursue their college education in Ahmedabad with the same Gurukul culture.

The foundation stone was laid on Monday the 15th November 1976 in the presence of elder saints and haribhaktas. Under the personal guidance of H H Shastriji Maharaj Shree Dharmajivandasji Swami, within a very short span of time by the grace of the Shreeji Maharaj, the Gurukul was inaugurated on Wednesday the 16th March 1977 ( Phalgun - Vad - 12, Samvat 2033 ). Then started the various activities of the Gurukul.
