Since time immemorial, India has
developed its very own system of
medicine, called Ayurved, based on
the Atharva Ved, was attributed by Lord
Indra by imparting this knowledge to
Lord Dhanvantri, who then
systematised it.
Ayurved's oldest recorded masters,
who commenced its codification and
propagation 2,500 years ago, are the
great rishis Shushrut and Charak.
In an era of skyrocketing medical
costs, and deleterious blanket
prescriptions, Ayurvedic
concoctions, derived as they are
from plants, minerals and deep - sea
substances, are literally life -
savers.
Sadly, the pace of progress seems
to entail the extinction of these
Ayurvedic sources.
Hence, Niramayam will :
Develop a nursery of medicinal
herbs, plants and trees particularly those
on
the verge of extinct;
Carry out plant and mineral
research;
Develop quality benchmarks for
Ayurvedic medicines;
Produce Ayurvedic medicines under
proper clinical conditions;
Test such medicines in an in-house
laboratory of international
standards;
Document Ayurvedic knowledge, both
existing, as well as future research
yielded;
Hold seminars, lectures and so on
to aid the research, testing and
popularisation of Ayurveda;
Design
and develop syllabi for specialised
studies.
