GAUSHALA

The ancient Indian scriptures depict that 33crore deities reside in the cow. Realizing the sacredness of the cow, saints used to nurse and care for cows in Gurukuls. To keep this ancient pious culture alive, Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Rajkot, and its branches, maintain very beautiful and modern gaushalas.

Each and every single cow is properly taken care of, not only with modern scientific and medical treatment, but also with love and affection. There, ceiling fans are fitted in the gaushalas to prevent cows from mosquito bites, parasites, flies, insects, and heat. There are also small farms in the Gurukul to cultivate cattle feed for the cows.

Devotees also understand the value of cows, as their affection is shown by the large offerings of fodder. Devotees from different villages bring fodder in trucks and tractors to the Gurukul. The proper affection and care for the cattle could be seen in the All India Beast Festival - October 1998. At that event, a calf of the gaushala was awarded the Top rank.
