Dhanur Mas, a month favored to acquire the knowledge and wisdom in Indian tradition. This was the time when Bhagwan Shree Krishna and Balramji learned 64 Vidyas in the Gurukul of Rishi Sandipani. The scriptures are the very source of knowledge and wisdom for the welfare of all living beings in universe.For the listening of scriptures and to spread the helping hand with the celebrations of various events, this Dhanur Mas is especially recommended by scriptures. In Gurukul, this month is celebrated with various spiritual, social activities.At Gurukul Ahmadabad, Parshad Shree Shamji Bhagat delivered the Katha eruditely on Vachanamrutam. Shastri Shree Dharmavatsaldasji Swami narrated the Katha on Shree Krishna Charitra where as Shastri Kunjviharidasji Swami and Pujya Shrutivallabhdasji Swami delivered the katha on Shikshapatri Bhashyam.As a part of value education, hostel students of SGVP, along with saints conducted various inspiring social beneficial events.17 Dec & 19 Dec – Students participated in Sarvamangal Yag and Shree Mahavishnu Yag. Under the guidance of Pujya Paurani Swami Shree Bhaktiprakashadasji Swami, Pundits and Rushikumars of Darshanam Sanskrit Mahavidyalay carried out the Vedic rituals of Yagna.20 Dec – Visit of orphan house & Visit of Old Aged home ‘Matrutva’. Students distributed the daily useful kits and served & spared moments with old aged Mothers.21 Dec – Visit of Civil Hospitals for fruit distribution to patients. Also visited school of physically challenged Children to distribute the useful kits23 to26 Dec – Adventurous and pleasing Tour of Jesalmer- Abu & Udaypur27 Dec – Visit of School of mentally retarded children ‘Prakash’ to distribute food articles and to have moments with them.28 Dec – Students enjoyed the Sugarcane Festival at SGVP28-29-30 Dec – Under the banner of forth coming ‘Sadguru Vandana Mahotsav – 2012’ a ‘Krishna Charitra Kathamrut Parayan’ was arranged for three days at nearby village Gota. Shastri Shree Munivatsaldasji Swami and other saints delivered the Katha.
On the 29 Dec students of Gurukul Memnagar presented few cultural Raas and on the last days students of SGVP distributed educational and sports kits to the children of primary school of village Gota. Sadguru Purani Shree Balkrishnadasji swami blessed all devotees in his inspiring speech.30 Dec – Pream Prakash Tournament was arranged for the students including various indoor and outdoor games31 Dec – Lok Dirayo – To cultivate the inner potential of students on stage a folk artistic stage program was arranged on the eve of New Year. Along with the students of hostela and of Darshanam Samskrit Mahavidyalay, few students from the school of physically challenged Children also presented inspiring and pleasing events.31 Dec – 04 Jan – On the occasion of Dhanur Mas, a Vyakhyan Mala was arranged at Bapunagar (Ahmadabad)by Guurkul Satsang Mandal. Shastri Shree Vedantswarupdasji Swami delivered the speech on the topic Jivan – Panchamrut. Sadguruvarya Shastri shree Madhavpriyadasji Swami and Pujya Purani Shree Balkrishnadasji Swami blessed all participants.01 Jan – Tulasi Vivah & Falkut & Saint Brahmin Poojan : A marvelous event of Tulasi – Vivah was arranged as a part of celebrations of Dhanur Mas. A warm welcome was offered to Shaligramji (Thakorji) with procession arrived from Gurukul Memnagar. As per the scriptural rituals marriage of Thakoraji and Tulasiji was performed in the presence of students and devotees.On this occasion a marvelous FALKUT was offered to Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj consisting various fruits and juices weighing over 1000 kgs. Pujya Purani Shree Balkirshnadasji Swami and Purani Shree Shreeharidasji Swami performed the aarati of Falkut. Sadguruvarya Shastri Shree Madhavpriyadasji Swami recommended distributing the Prasdi fruits to hospitals and needy people. Students gave out fruits to Heart hospital and slum area.02 Jan – Fruit distribution Heart Hospital and slum area03 Jan – Students offered and served the Lunch to children of primary school of Rural area04 Jan – Cleanliness Movement – as a part of environment awareness students inspired to keep the surroundings clean and neat.05 Jan – Gau Poojan & Blanket Distribution – In the morning students performed the Gau-Poojan as a part of Indian tradition and ad mid-night spread out their hands in severe cold to cover the needy citizens on road with blankets.06 Jan – Gau Seva To serve the cows with fodder students visited a massive cow stable and provided green fodder to cows.07 Jan – Mantra Lekhan In the pious memory of Pujyapad Shree Jogi Swamiji students performed the Mantra Lekhan for six hours.08 Jan – Mahapooja & Magh snan Students performed group Mahapooja. Moreover started the Magh-SnanIndia has great Rushis as its ancestors. They were very much concerned about not only for spirituality but for health too.Winter is ideal time to eat fully, summer for having liquid and monsoon is when we should be eating light. A fasting during Ekadashi and Navaratri is important scientifically for health-nourishment.Similarly from the second half of POSH-Month to the full moon-day of MAGHA –month (this year from 9-1-2012 to 7-2-2012) is well-known for MAGH-SNANAM in Indian Vedic tradition.In reality, this MAGHA-SNAN (cold-pot-dunking) is very beneficial to our health.This MAGHA-SNAN (Cold-Pot-Dunking) is performed at Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Vishwavidya Pratishthanam (SGVP) Chharodi and Gurukul Ahmadabad (Memnagar) as well as at Darshanam Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya. This MAGHA-SNAN isn’t compulsory for all the students. All these three locations have the facility for hot water. But even the foreign students at SGVP love to perform this ritual.14 Jan – Katha Poornahuti & Gau Poojan on Sankranti : In the mornig Pujya Shamji Baghat delivered the last session of morning Katha. Sadguruvarya Shastri Shree Madhavpriyadasji Swami, Pujya Purani Swami Shree Bhaktiprakashdasji Swami and Pujya Purani Shree Balkrishnadasji Swami blessed Pujya Shamji Bhagat for pleasing Katha delivered during Dhanur Mas and blessed devotees.On the occasion of auspicious day of Makar Sankranti, Gau-Poojan is one of the traditions in Indian Culture. People give various kinds of donations on this day. At Gurukul Ahmadabd, devotees performed Gau-Poojan and worshipped cow & calf.As per the traditions and to cultivate the values in students, Gurukul celebrated the Dhanur Mas with many inspiring spiritual and social activities.
