In an unprecedented event, SGVP International School became the
first educational institute in the nation to receive the coveted
accreditation from the American Commission on International and
Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA) for its excellence in
academic performance for a second five-year term. It also
validated the institute status as a world class institute among
350 schools in 120 countries. SGVP also carries a seal of
approval from Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
(SACS) headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. In the USA alone,
there are over 25,000 schools and colleges under the
jurisdiction of CITA and SACS. The SGVP offers ICSE and
Cambridge courses and assists students in AIEEE, GujCET, PMT,
SAT and TOEFL examinations.
The performance was evaluated against seven critical standards
ranging from teaching methodologies, qualifications of educators
and community participation to health, hygiene and safety
factors.
CITA specially noted the balanced program of study, sports and
spirituality. The school has complete range of classes from
Junior Kindergarten all the way up to standard 12 on an
environmentally friendly campus. It also includes five-star
hostel & dining facilities accommodating over 450 students and
international size sports complex comprising football, cricket,
basketball, tennis, volleyball, swimming, gymnasium etc. SGVP
also has horse-riding and roller skating training in its
curriculum. Yoga and ethical value education form part of SGVP
program.
The crowning achievement was a “first-ever-in-the-world”
accolade of winning this prestigious quality accreditation by Darshanam Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya (DSM), a Sanskrit school,
co-located on the SGVP campus, offering studies from 8th
standard up to Bachelors and Masters Degrees. It is affiliated
with SSC-HSC Gujarat State Board and Shree Somnath Sanskrit
University. The CITA assessment team included experts of
Sanskrit from the USA and Canada to provide necessary language
background during the visit.
DSM embarked on the year-long accreditation process to confirm
the world-class status by establishing and enhancing its
continuous quality school improvement plan.
The DSM specialization courses include Scriptural knowledge,
Governance and Leadership, studies of Vedas, Upanishads, Temple
management, Vyakarana, Nyaya etc. It also provides opportunities
for research in many fields.
CITA team was led by the distinguished educationist DR. Randy
Sinisi who is the CEO & Executive Director of CITA. She was
accompanied by Dr. Donald Enz, Arizona State Director and
Superintendent of schools of the state. The other distinguished
member was Dr. Tirupalavanam Ganesh, the Dean of Arizona State
University. The interpretation was assisted by Dr. Ravindra
Trivedi, the CEO of RT & Triair enterprises, Canada. His
Holiness Madhavpriyadasji is the Chairman of SGVP.
Congratulations would be in order to DSM for being the first in
the world Sanskrit school to win the CITA five-year
accreditation and to SGVP for the unprecedented re-accreditation
from CITA, SACS and now the North Central Association of
Colleges and Schools (NCACS) of USA.
