Ashadhi Bij – the day of Rath Yatra has a unique
importance in Indian traditions. Jagannath Puri one of the chief
shrines is worldwide famous for the Ratha Yatra of Bhagawan
Shree Krushna (Jagannathji), Balbhadraji and Subhadraji.
At Ahmedabad since last 131 years, Rath Yatra is a gigantic
event with devotional fervour. This year at
Gurukul Ahmedabad, in new prayer hall along with Shree Ghanshyam
Maharaj, Pran-Pratishtha of deities from various divine
places is performed Including Shree Jagannath Bhagawan from
Jagannath Puri, Pratishtha was performed with the holy
hands of Pujyapad Shree Jogi Swamiji.
Initiating the Ratha Yatra tradition of
Jaganntha Puri, it was decided to arrange the very first
Nagar-Yatra of Bhagwan Shree Jagannathaji, Balbhadraji and
Subhadraji in western region of Ahmedabad.
With the blessings of Pujyapad Shree Jogi
Swamiji, in the holy presence of Sadguru Purani Swami Shree
Bhaktiprakashdasji Swami and under the guidance of Sadguru
Purani Shree Balkrishnadasji Swami first Ratha-Yatra was carried
out on the day of Ashadhi Bij, July 4, 2008.
At 04:00 pm, Pujyapad Shree Jogi Swamiji
performed the Arati of Shree Jagannathaji in chariot. Along with
horse-riders, bike-riders, Raas-Mandals and special band group
Rath yatra moved forward. During the procession, thousands of
devotees welcomed and worshipped Bhagawan Shree Jagannathji.
Various spiritual centres, temples, Hindu
organisations, social institutes, religious and social
dignitaries graced the occasion with their warm support and
presence.
On returning to Gurukul, a marvellous welcome
was offered along with Aarti.
